In keeping with this week's graduate theme inspired by Graduate Fashion Week we take a look at the work of, Central Saint Martins graduate, Anita Hirlekar.
Her work is inspired by the energy and rawness of abstract art, especially the paintings of Rothko and Richter. The bold colours and varying textures reflect the work of these artistic masters as well as the landscape of her home country, Iceland.
Each garment produced by Anita has been hand felted to prevent it from having seams and to give each item a unique edge. This technique also adds volume and texture to the garments whilst at the same time highlighting the asymmetrical angles created. The use of heavy wool and light silk gives the collection a luxurious and high quality feel whilst still remaining highly creative in appearance.
