Menswear Mondays: Pitti Uomo Classic, Sophisticated Style

Lee Oliveira has fast become one of my favourite street style photographers. His photos offer a snapshot into his life, allowing you an exclusive preview of the most fashionable people on the globe. The crystal clear quality of the photos combined with the off-guard pose of most of his subjects makes Lee's photos irresistible and I am drawn to his website/Twitter/Instagram and Facebook accounts day upon day to see the latest submission from Lee.

These photos taken from the Pitti Uomo show in Florence show how a classic and sophisticated style can work on people of all ages. Made up from a combination of smart tailoring, a neutral colour palette and a variety of textures, all offset by a statement accessory; this formula for dressing has been tried and tested ever since the suit was invented.

The first photo clearly demonstrates how the look can work on an older gentleman. The ash coloured suit has been cut so that it fits the contours of the body like a glove. The white shirt gives the outfit a crisp, fresh look whilst being contrasted against the furry scarf which adds a warm, softer edge to the whole outfit. My favourite detail really brings the outfit to life...The bright red documents wallet adds a colour popping, lively edge to the outfit, giving it energy and bringing it to life.

The same principles are applied to the second photo, a smartly tailored jacket is paired with a crisp good fitting shirt but this time, the look has been updated to suit a younger crowd. Colour plays a key role in the creation of this outfit, the grape coloured purple jacket contrasts perfectly with the denim shirt giving the look a casual feel. This is emphasised through the skinny chino jeans and the skinny tie which adds a layer of cool to the outfit. The look is finished off nicely by some kooky shades and eye catching bracelets. Everyone wants to be this man's friend!

  1. Oh my God, I love Pitti Uomo! It's so surrealistic, the way it looks, the men attending the event and the way they dress... I love it! Good you talked about it :)
