New Look Press Day 2011

Walking from the dark, dirty, bustling streets of London and into the New Look showroom for their 2011 press day was like walking into another world. Sunglasses were essential when looking at the preview for the SS12 collection.

New Look has injected a heavy dose of colour into next seasons wardrobe with their latest womenswear collection. Inspired by the summer frivolity of America's Coney Island, the collection features colour pop denim and graphic florals which reflect the busy board walks and faded attractions that are synonymous with this New York attraction.

The collection then manifests itself into a ladylike luxe of vintage meets classic, creating a look that is delicate, fun and flirty. Sherbet brights and sugary pastels combine with crystallised embellishment and floaty fabrics to create a feminine elegance in the form of pleated dresses, tweed jackets and pencil skirts.

The collection also takes it's inspiration from the up and coming 2012 Olympics and in celebration of the games, sportswear goes glam. Delicate sheer fabrics are juxtaposed against flashes of neon and slinky side stripe trousers. Crop tops are worn under baseball jackets mixing both feminine and masculine elements.

The key tends for Spring/Summer 2012 are:

Vintage-(1920's/30's inspired tunics and beading combined with pastel colours create an ultra feminine look)

90's Grunge-(Black crocheted knits draped over cream lace tops give this look a feminine edge)

Hawaiian-(Sun scorched prints and faded coloured denim are essentials for this look)

Sporty-(Re-worked tracksuits mixed with floaty fabrics)
