Menswear Mondays-The New Kid On The Block

Antonio Azzuolo Spring 2012 Menswear

Today, when we see the menswear shows at fashion week, it is clear to see that there has been a revolution in menswear. Gone are the days when it was only posh, upper class, older gentlemen who wore suits or bankers in the city. Today designers such as Antonio Azzuolo have taken a fresh stance on the traditional suit and using the traditional methods of fine tailoring, he has created a collection that is bursting with life and vitality.

Prior to launching his brand a.a., Azzuolo earned his stripes as design director for Ralph Lauren Purple and Black Label. It was whilst working as design director that he dedicated his time to concept and design which enabled him to gain the skills and confidence he needed to go solo and brave the tumultuous world of fashion on his own.

It is through his work in his brand, a.a., that he was nominated for a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination, something which is like gold dust in the design world. On hearing the news of his nomination, Azzuolo, who is going on to his eighth season with a.a. decided to drop his plans of creating a collection based on "what would fit in a travel bag" and create a 25 look strong collection based on globe trotting.

"Young guys are interested in sartorial, timeless, dressing but they want it in a modern way." "The way we dress today is really a duality between the very tailored, sartorial look and the street." said Azzuolo in a recent interview with Style.com This way of thinking is apparent in his latest collection which oozes old school glamour. brought up to day by the vivid colours used throughout the collection and the effortless styling which combines the old with the new.
