Menswear Mondays-Rick Genest

Rick (Rico) Genest shot to fame earlier this year by becoming Nicola Formichetti's muse for Muglar and also appearing in Lady Gaga's video for Born This Way. He has 80% of his body tattooed and because of this has gained the nickname 'Zombie Boy'.

Born in Montreal, Canada, the artist and later fashion model grew up with his mother and father in the suburbs living a normal family life. Out of respect for his parents, Genest waited until the age of 16 to get his first tattoo and left home at 17 to become a greater part of the "underground scene" in Montreal. At the age of 21, he met the legendary tattoo artist Frank Lewis with whom he has all of his tattoos done with now. Due to his obsession with tattoos, it was not long till Genest found himself homeless after spending thousands of dollars on tattooing his body.

The future looks bright however, with his Facebook fan page reaching 1, 516,415 fans (as of May 11, 2011) and then becoming a model in the Mugler new autumn winter menswear show and online. It was because of Nicola Formichetti's nurturing that Genest has risen to fame, becoming friends with the amazing Lady Gaga.
