A DAY AT BENIJO BEACH

Benijo beach is a real hidden gem, located in the north east region of Tenerife. It is tucked away behind shards of volcanic rock which jut out at irregular angles across the coastline and is only accessible by car (unless you are brave enough to hike). It had been on my 'must see' list for months and of course, I jumped at the chance to visit when my old friend Rudy called me up one morning.

We had chosen a special day to visit because, the fierce tides were strangely calm revealing a secret cove and gentle waves, perfect for splashing in. After a steep climb down some rickety wooden steps, we all made it to the beach for a day of sunbathing and swimming.

Joining me on this day out was my good friend Emilie and one half of the Canarian comic duo 'EstoesColonia', Rudy. It was a day jam packed with laughs and tasty food, I even tried sardines for the first time before heading back home towards San Andreas for some ice cream.

It is true what they say about Benijo, it truly is a fantastic beach and arguably one of the best on the whole island. I loved every minute of the visit and cannot wait to go back and see it all again soon.
