Graduate Fashion Week has begun, bringing fashion colleges from across the world together under the roof of Earls Court exhibition centre. Today was the start of a four day showcase which aims to promote the work of Britain's top fashion graduates. Catwalk shows hosted by universities, pop up shops and drop in workshops are just a few of the fantastic things on offer for the week ahead.
Here are a few of the highlights from the showcase. The Moda de la Mode team were completely in awe of Austin Louis Perry and his chain/fur jacket on display at the De Montfort stand. The beautiful colours and textures make it an instant attention grabbing piece and the weight of the garment is shocking. Whoever wears the jacket will definitely not need to worry about joining the gym.
Another designer who caught our eye was Caitlin Charles Jones, a kintwear student at Kinston University. Her neon, sports luxe inspired dress was one of the chosen few garments to be displayed in the main entrance of the venue and the black backdrop which it was sent against, really made the colours pop.
Of course, universities go to town with the decoration of their stand. The University of Central Lancashire brought the summery weather indoors and decorated their stand with a gorgeous array of foliage. It was like walking into a teenage girl's dream bedroom, fake flowers were taped to the walls amongst an organised chaos of cuttings and inspiring imagery. It could not have been a nicer environment to look through portfolios and while away a few minutes.
