London Fashion Week SS13: Charlie May

Charlie May's SS13 London Fashion Week show was probably one of my most eagerly anticipated shows of the season. This was not only because I had fallen completely head over heels in love with her AW12 collection at the HPR press day, but also because I have been a follower of Charlie's blog for such a long time and I was so excited to see her on a different level.

The show was held in the wine cellars of the Stafford Hotel which offered an slightly eerie, very grand setting for the show. The arched ceilings and whitewashed walls provided the perfect backdrop for which to focus purely on the clothes and the minor details of each garment.

The collection had a muted colour palette of delicate, subdued pinks, pale creams and dusty baby blues which complimented the simple yet elegant designs. Chic is the only word to describe to collection, it is true, unadulterated chic which can only be created by a select few designers but yet, Charlie May pulls it off and exceptionally well indeed. The mix of chiffons, leather and semi transparent mesh provided the perfect contrast between gracefulness and the hard edge of city life proving the collection can appeal to all. Looking closely at the collection, it is possible to pick out Charlie May's signature style in the form of halter neck fastenings and simple clean cut, tailoring and it is this that makes Charlie's work so renowned and admired throughout the whole fashion industry.

I am still in awe of this girl, it appears there is really nothing she cannot do. I look forward to seeing future collections and following her on her exciting journey down the catwalks of the fashion industry.
